WOW...it seemed like November just vanished into thin air. One minute it seemed like we were returning home from the Moore Cousins' Getaway in Kentucky and the next thing we knew it was Thanksgiving and we were heading down to Flower Mound, Texas. In between, the new roof did get finished, the new gutters were installed on the house, the broken fence around the back yard was fixed and as we left for Texas to spent Thanksgiving with Janet, Harry and Gabriella Otto, we got a call that the asphalt drive was going to be repaired as well, thus bringing to a close the list of repairs from the May storm.
Part of the month of November was devoted to writing and putting together the Fall newsletter for the SIUC Emeritus and Annuitant Association as well as planning for the Holiday Luncheon scheduled for December 9th at the Student Center. This year's theme is Jingle Bells and we hope to have a great luncheon with our members. November 11th was also the date for the semi annual luncheon with the SIU Friends at Mary's Restuarant in Herrin. This is a gathering of retired SIUC Civil Service and A/P women and it is always a pleasure to gather with this group. We have all shared so many years working on campus and it's a real treat to see these special friends twice a year in the elegant surroundings of Mary's big room. Thanks to hostess, Jackie Mueller, for planning a nice program for our fall meeting and to Mamie Coffey for the big tray of delicious candies that she made just for us. The divinity was divine, as was all the other goodies she baked up.
November also brought the last regular season Saluki home football game in McAndrews Stadium. After 73 years of SIU football in 'The Mac,' Saluki football will be moving to its new stadium which is scheduled to be ready for next year's football season. However, because of the team's outstanding winning record, the last game was actually played in a play off game the first Saturday of December.
Now we are well into December and of course, that means preparing for the holidays. I will be posting pictures of November events shortly and also there will be pictures from December actitivities as well coming soon.
