The Emeritus and Annuitant luncheon was held on Wednesday, December 9th, at the SIU Student Center, Ballroom B. Although our attendance keeps dwindling each year, we were honored to have 40 people attend to hare in and enjoy the fellowship and cheer of the holiday season.

As chair of the event, I was pleased with the festive table settings and the delicious meal the Student Center catering service provided. To enhance the festive mood and the Jingle Bell theme, the table center pieces consisted of glass hurricane bowls filled with large, colorful Jingle bells set on mirrors with red glass pebbles scattered around the mirrors, Red and White festive table favors along with special designed event programs, also enhanced each place setting.

President Bob Radtke warmly welcomed the guests and upon the serving of dessert, five students of Professor Tim Fink, of the Opera Theater Department, provided a wonderful musical program of holiday selections. The program was opened with a group number and then each student was show cased in a solo performance of their unique talent...and their talent was awesome. The dinner was then closed with Professor Fink leading the a group sing along of what else,
Jingle Bells. Each guest was invited to take a bell from the table centerpiece to jingle during the sing along and to keep as a souvenir. It was a lovely luncheon and a lovey way to start off the holiday season.
